Xena Episode Art: Season 4 Episode 21: The Ides of March by MaryD

Xena Season 4 Episode 21: The Ides of March..We saw the emergence of "The Gabinator" - Gabrielle FINALLY lay down her peacenik persona, picked up a sword and killed to save Xena's life. She had chosen the Way of Friendship which meant she chose to kill to save a life; her beloved Xena. Xena and Gabrielle both died in this episode...once again. This episode inspired many fanfic pieces and a great deal of artwork. Here's my collection which was created in 1998. As you can see the "cell scene" is featured...for new fans, this is the scene that launched a thousand and one fanfics; superb acting by our dynamic duo and so beautiful. Gabrielle's fight to save Xena was raw and you could feel the horror of it all. Brilliant acting by Renee and Lucy.

Renee O'Connor Interview at Armageddon 2011 Capsule ComputersMasterAbbott from Capsule Computers sits down with very talented independant film producer, director and actress Renee O'Connor which most of you know for her role as Gabrielle in Xena Warrior Princess. Renee discusses the challenges and what made working on Xena so great. We also discuss the possibilities of voice acting in video games and also what her first video game was and also what Renee enjoys playing now.

Also discussed is Renee up coming film called Beyond the Farthest Star : A twist of fate brings the national spotlight to a forgotten Texas town, and a once famous preacher has an opportunity to regain his former glory or seize one last chance to restore his fractured family.

Renee Interview at Armageddon Expo with World News Australia

Renee was interviewed for the World News Australia on SBS in Sydney. This amuses me no end - not Renee's interview but the footage of one of my favourite, very serious, newsreaders on Sydney tv from the multicultural station SBS talking about Armageddon! Lee Lin Chin is one of my favourite newsreaders and has been with the station for such a long time. Renee is interviewed and talks about how the fans keep coming back and how the show changed their (our) lives.

Renee & Hudson at Armageddon Sydney – Callisto Yell Posted on: 27th February 2011

I do love it when Hudson does the Callisto Yell. It’s so violent and I bet it’s not easy on Hudson’s voice either to do this yell but she does it so well! Renee and Hudson were at the Armageddon Expo 26 February 2011 in Sydney and they appeared together for the very first time [...]

Note: This version of the guide still has original 11AM start time for Renee and Hudson. They were on stage together at 10AM.

Also of note when the Renee and Hudson show rolls into Adelaide - they only have 45 minutes for their stage time (the other 15 is going to be eaten up by an eating contest...not between Renee and Hudson but by fans although the Renee and Hudson eating contest would be interesting) :)

Renee and Hudson on Stage Together At Armageddon at 10 AM 26 Feb 2011

As previously reported, Renee and Hudson will be making their first ever appearance together on stage at the Armageddon Expo in Sydney on Saturday 26 Feb 2011. This is the first time both women have been to Sydney for a convention (not sure if they have been here just for fun) and also the first time they have been on stage together..that is going to be interesting. We've seen Renee with Lucy and how she sometimes prompts Lucy with follow up questions..I wonder if she will do that with Hudson or if there is going to be a different dynamic to it all. We will find out tomorrow!

I was driving into work this morning and saw a poster stuck on a pole advertising the expo. Couldn't quite slow down to look if Renee and Hudson's names were there (I would have hit the car in front...can you imagine the conversation with the police as to why I crashed into the guy in front? Sorry but I was trying to look at a convention poster...)

If you haven't grabbed your tickets yet, go to the ARMAGEDDON EXPO site - General admission tickets are $20 ($36 if you want to go both days but Ren and Hudson will be on tomorrow and not Sunday)

90's TV Stars: Where Are They Now? Renee O'Connor

Renee was mentioned in the NYDailyNews.com's gallery, Cheesy '90s TV Stars: Where are they now? The info is a inaccurate in places but it's cool.

Xena: Warrior Princess'

ImageRenee O'Connor (Gabrielle)

Xena's sidekick, the staff-wielding Gabrielle, blossomed from story-telling bard to an acrobatic warrior with the help of her butt-kicking counterpart. Thanks to the ambiguous nature of the duo's relationship, O'Connor would go on to be a cult figure in the lesbian community. Since 'Xena,' the actress has appeared in a slew of shorts and made for TV movies, while also trying her hand at directing and producing.

Con 2011 A little bit more on Lucy and Renee and Jacqueline
by KTL

You know, the problem with writing up these things as quickly as possible after they’re over is that it always happens that after a few days or a week or a month, little bits of the experience resurface in my brain. Or, sometimes friends write me and set me back on track.

I got a note from a bud who said that a number of the questions I said Lucy had been asked by fans had actually been asked by Renee.

Deadrise Now Available To Pre-Order From Amazon

Image

Renee's movie "Deadrise" (Formally known as Fitful) is now available to pre-order from
Amazon.com and set for release on 5 April 2011.

** There is a new link to pre-order Deadrise (formerly Fitful) on Amazon.  The original link now goes to a page which incorrectly says the item is unavailable and it is not known if and when it will be in stock.  The new link goes to the revised product page which (thanks to a correction submitted to Amazon by TXer Ianic) now correctly lists Renee O'Connor as an actor.

Paula (Renee O'Connor) is an inspector for the Historic Trust who visits an abandoned ship on a desolate waterfront. She meets up with the self-appointed caretaker, Vigs (Larry Joe Campbell), who had blindly made the application for historical status. Moments after her arrival, her car is disabled and she is far from town and is stuck for the night. Without other options, she takes him up on his offer to spend the night. What follows is a sleepless night of bad dreams and creepy reality.

You can find out more about the movie by going to the AUSXIP Renee O'Connor Fitful subsite

Renee Mention on TV Squad 10 February 2011

renee-oconnor-getty-150From the article, "Gabrielle Carteris Heading to 'The Event' and 5 Other '90s Stars We Want Back on TV," by Chris Harnick on TV Squad.com posted February 10, 2011

"Renee O'Connor ('Xena: Warrior Princess')

Oh, Renee. So lovable as Gabrielle, then a few guest roles and SyFy TV movies later she was gone. She displayed great range on 'Xena,' a master of both comedy and drama. Where she should go: 'The Walking Dead.' Throw her in the mix with this group of dirty and desperate zombie fighters. Make sure she has plenty of scenes with Andrea (Laurie Holden). Alternative: 'Parks and Recreation.' Andy's sister, perhaps? "

There will Be NO 2011 Xena Convention DVD by Creation

The following was posted on AUSXIP Talking Xena about the rumours that next year's convention will be the last (heard that rumour every year since Xena ended filming) and when/if the 2011 Xena con was filmed and to be released on DVD:

the post is by thrill of the quill
I spoke with Sharon today (called to order the 2009-2010 Convention DVDs, yay) and I asked her about the "last con" rumor. She said that if and when they decide to have a last con, they will definitely announce it as such so that we can all go out with a bang. Many have mentioned that, and it makes sense to me.

I also asked her if the 2011 con was filmed and she said it was not. Mainly because Renee was showing a number of videos which they would not be able to get clearance for for a DVD release, and of course, Lucy's last minute appearance.

Renee's Infinity Movie Synopsis - SPOILERS and a WARNING

Image

INFINITY MOVIE SPOILERS

I don't usually post a warning of this kind but usually a spoiler warning. I will post Spoiler warnings but not a general warning about a film unless it's overly graphic in nature.

For this post I will post a SPOILER warning, a General Warning and An ANGST warning.

I have read the con reports that this movie was disturbing becuase it deals with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) but I don't think I was prepared for the actual synopsis. I suspect watching this movie with Renee in the same room would be very disturbing indeed because, as fans we love Renee, we love her work and to have her in this movie would be quite emotional. I now fully understand why Renee asked for the children not to be present and for anyone else who didn't wish to see this to leave for the duration of the movie. I will not tell you what happens to her character.

If you want to know there is a synopsis written by a fan who attended the convention and saw the movie. As a writer, words are very powerful to me. Watching this movie after reading about it would sear the images into my brain.

This is the type of movies Renee should make. No matter the material; it's the stuff that makes you FEEL. To THINK. That's what Words Unspoken did, that's what One Weekend a Month did. Not sure if I can handle Infinity. Not sure if I could have handled this at the convention and now I fully understand why some fans were heartsick after watching this.

It's very powerful.

WARNING - don't click on the link if you don't want to read spoilers or the material will upset you...it will upset you in some form, almost guaranteed.

Xena In Australia on Foxtel AND 7Mate - Season 1

ImageAs reported on 22 January 2011 - Xena Returning to Australian TV in February 2011, Xena fans can also catch our dynamic duo on Foxtel's SciFi Channel starting with Season 1!

Tomorrow we have Chariots of War on SciFi and The Titans on 7Mate!

New Zealand-filmed Xena: Warrior Princess is the highly successful spin-off of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. In the original show, Xena (Lucy Lawless) is a fierce and formidable villainess, the leader of a vast army bent on destruction and devastation, but she casts off her evil ways and devotes the rest of her life to making amends to her victims and protecting the innocent - a task complicated by the many enemies who neither forgave nor forgot.

Xena’s constant companion is the young and beautiful Gabrielle (Renee O'Connor), an aspiring "bard", eager to experience adventure first-hand, but who ultimately becomes Xena's devoted friend and confidant.

And what adventures they have! Xena and Gabrielle journey through Greece, Italy, Scandanavia, Africa, India, and China, with side trips to the Underworld, even to the future, in which the two heroines find themselves in reincarnated form.

Plenty of tongue in cheek humour and messing about with history sees spoofs on beauty contests, spaghetti Westerns, Danny Kaye films, theme parks, pro wrestling, Broadway musicals, and even Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

For mythological mayhem, Xena is the place to be!

Review of ARK by Axiom's Edge Science Fiction & Fantasy

Image

ARK received 4-1/2 out of 5 Stars in a review by John J. Joex of Axiom's Edge Science Fiction and Fantasy dated February 3, 2011.

"Ark was made on a rather hefty budget (for a web series) of around $50k and is quite an impressive production for this format."

"The acting is quite good, though (....) Connie is also way to (sic) bad-ass for a third grade teacher, but as the series progresses we get the suggestion she may be more than she seems."

"In any case, this is a great web series for those new to the format because of its near professional production values. And it’s also a great story that any Science Fiction fan should enjoy."

In addition to Lucy's video blog about the Resene horse - click here to view, Lucy has posted a new written blog about her visit to the 2011 Xena Convention. Renee's movie "Infinity" was shown and everyone was emotional - Renee's movies do tend to pack an emotional wallop (I remember watching Words Unspoken at the 2010 Xena Con and that had to be the most emotional I've ever seen the Xena crowd to be (other than giddy with joy). Renee's films (films she actually has a hand in creating) are very powerful. In my opinion that makes them absolutely fantastic whether you like or dislike the content, they will make you think and feel. It would be absolutely mind blowing to have Lucy star in one of those Renee written/directed films.

Now back to Lucy's blog... Lucy came right at the end and it seems she misunderstood what had happened. Easy enough to do. Go and read Lucy's blog.

Deadrise Movie Trailer with Renee

Deadrise Movie Trailer Starring Renee O'ConnorDeadrise is the new movie with Renee. It was called Fitful but the name has changed. The trailer has been posted to Renee's AUSXIP Video Channel. You can find out more about the movie on AUSXIP Renee O'Connor Deadrise (Fitful) Movie subsite

An inspector (Renee O'Connor - Xena: Warrior Princess) for the Historic Trust visits an abandoned ship on a desolate waterfront. Paula meets up with the self-apppointed caretaker Vigs (Larry Joe Campbell - Wedding Crashers, According to Jim) who blindly made the application for historical status. Moments after her arrival, Paula's car is disabled and she is far from

town and is stuck for the night. Without any particular option, Paula accepts Vigs' offer to spend the night on the once proud steamship. What follows is a sleepless night of bad dreams and creepy reality.

Renee's February Video Channel Update

Image

Renee's February Video Channel content is now online at http://www.reneeoconnor.net. It includes:

- 5 Ways To... Control Your Anxiety: Absolutely hilarious video, kind of like a live action Toy Story. And best of all, Renee is wearing her classic, iconic Season 3 BGSB costume! (the picture on the left is NOT from the video channel...it's just a Season 3 episode still from The Dirty Half Dozen) She's even wearing her hair in the Gabrielle style. You'd never think it was 12 years later. Anyone who doesn't think she can still play Gabrielle in a new Xena movie, needs to have their eyes examined.

- ROC That Spot: An interesting visit to Threadgill's, a world famous restaurant owned by her step dad and mom, in Austin, Texas.

- Talking With.. : An interview with Katherine Fugate

And More! Go to Renee's Official Site and subscribe. It's only $9.99 per month.
