Message From Renee About Iris in The Diary of Anne Frank

ImageThis news isn't really about Renee but about her talented daugther, Iris Sura. Normally I don't post about the children of our Xena alumni BUT this is of special interest to me because I'm a WW2 history nut and I think it's pretty special.

Iris has been cast in the role of Anne Frank - a phantomprojects production. This is a huge role for the talented Iris.

Renee said:
I keep my ideals, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart.” (Anne Frank) Her words are a relevant, daily reminder. My daughter, Iris, has the honor of playing ‘Anne’ in the @phantomprojects production. It’s going to be a great show.

If you are in the LA area, The Diary of Anne Frank will be:

LOOK AT HOW A SINGLE CANDLE CAN BOTH DEFY AND DEFINE THE DARKNESS.
In this transcendentally powerful new adaptation by Wendy Kesselman, Anne Frank emerges from history a living, lyrical, intensely gifted young girl, who confronts her rapidly changing life and the increasing horror of her time with astonishing honesty, wit, and determination.

An impassioned drama about the lives of eight people hiding from the Nazis in a concealed storage attic, THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence—their fear, their hope, their laughter, their grief. Each day of these two dark years, Anne’s voice shines through: “When I write I shake off all my cares. But I want to achieve more than that. I want to be useful and bring enjoyment to all people, even those I’ve never met. I want to go on living even after my death!” This is a new adaptation for a new generation.
