Hollywood Film Festival 5-8 August - Words Unspoken

PACIFIC DESIGN CENTER TO HOST WEST HOLLYWOOD FILM FESTIVAL Four-day event to feature more than 100 films from around the world. WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif .,

-- Passion, protests and corrupted politics are just some of the themes covered in this year8 0s Second Annual West Hollywood Film Festival , taking place Aug. 5-8 at various West Hollywood theaters . This year's WHIFF 2009 kicks off in a new venue, as opening night will be showcased at the ultra-modern Pacific Design Center, 8687 Melrose Ave., in West Hollywood .

Renee O'Connor's Words Unspoken will open the festival, followed by the star-studded and highly electric film Annul Victory , which documents the ongoing battle to win civil rights for gay and lesbian couples. A panel discussion and question-answer period will follow the showing of Annul Victory with ROBIN TYLER, who with her wife DIANE OLSON were the original litigants in the historic Supreme Court equality case; MARC SOLOMON, Marriage Director for Equality California ; LORRI JEAN, Chief Executive Officer of the LA Gay & Lesbian Center JON DAVIDSON, National Legal Director of Lambda Legal ; MATT PALAZZOLO, co-founder Equal Roots; OLGA VIVES, Executive Vice President of the National Organization for Women (2005-2009) and Director of NOW's Equality Marriage Campaign; and other special guests to be announced.

The evening starts with a red carpet and reception at 6:00pm and ends with an after-party at The Abbey. ANNUL VICTORY is a civil rights film, with a highly entertaining mix of dramatic protest marches, celebrity commentary and an uplifting soundtrack, featuring CYNDI LAUPER , DONNA SUMMER , MADONNA and ADELLE.

Featuring more than 100 independent features, short and documentary films from a more than a dozen countries, WHIFF 2009 is also continuing to bring new technology to the industry, including high-definition films and superior sound systems.

Last year's debut of the West Hollywood Film Festival was a huge success, with more than 100 films featured from all over the world. This year's festival promises to be even bigger, with more star-studded support and high-quality filmmakers. Some of the top names in Hollywood that can be found in films at WHIFF 2009 include Danny Glover ( Tiny Tears ), Mickey Rooney ( The Yesterday Pool ), Eric Roberts ( The Cookie Thief ), Joe Cortese ( Shut up and Shoot ), Gary Busey ( Shut Up and Shoot ), Tom Sizemore ( Shut Up and Shoot) , O'Connor ( Words Unspoken ), and many others.

Tickets for WHIFF are $10 each and $7 for West Hollywood residents. Students and seniors are $5. A four-day festival pass is $125 and VIP passes are available for $150 each.
